Good Grief  7/31/2007 12:30:54 PM
My Mom rescued a cat and her kitten. Another cat, I asked her? Yes, she told me, because, like you, they needed a home and someone to take care of them. I couldn't argue with her; ok, well, maybe I could, but I decided not to. I'd cut her some slack, this time. So, this cat and her kitten are living in our garage right now. Mom says it's because they have worms (EWWW! I KNEW cats were harboring aliens inside them, I just KNEW it!) and they have to be treated. She also said it's because I'm hyper-spastic and slightly neurotic and way too possessive and she's afraid I might hurt them. I mean, it IS true...I go nuts when I see Mom out in the front yard playing with them, or gardening and them playing around her. I also kind of go nuts when they come up on the back deck and stare into our dining room through the large sliding glass door. They even come up and pat on the door, like they want in! Talk about brave! I try telling them to go away, that it's my house, but I think all they hear is "Bark bark bark"..it's like they don't speak dog or something. Weird cats. Anyway, Mom took them to the vet and got them some vaccines. I don't know why she didn't get me any; she usually brings me something any time she goes any where. I don't even know what vaccines are, but shouldn't I, the love of her life, get something, too? Ok, so, they got something (and I didn't, but I'll let it go...for now) and they're hanging around, just waiting for those 'worms' to go back to outer space or something. Mom really loves them and I guess I can see why. I feel really sorry for the Mommy kitty (Mom calls her Maddie). I heard Mom telling Grandma that she thinks someone set her on fire or threw her from a moving car because the whole side of her face was almost completely gone when Mom found her. She's been putting medicine on and I suppose it's working...Mom has stopped calling her "poor momma sweetie petitie kitty", which is good, cuz it was, quite frankly, making me want to go eat grass and do what comes naturally after that. Her kitten, named Daisy cuz she likes to hide in our daisy garden and jump out at Mom, loves Mom so much, she even tries to open the outside screen door and come in at night! Mom says it's been so hot outside lately, and there's so many stray dogs and cats in our neighborhood (and they're mean, too!), that she's thinking of bringing them inside and turning the basement into their 'play room' until they're healthy. WHOA...HEY....Mom!! That's MY favorite place to go! I'll have to talk to her about that, but, I mean, ok, I guess since Mom really loves those *blechy* cats, I'll try to give it a shot, too. I'm still going to tell them, all the time, how much I don't want them living here because this is MY home, but I suppose that, until they learn dog, all they'll hear is "Bark Bark Bark". Stupid cats. Cats drool, dogs rule. Yeah!
