| Pet Name: | Rico | | Age: | 18-24 months | | Gender: | Male | | Breed: | Mixed Breed | | Weight: | 15-20 lb | | Funny Story: | Every day is his funniest moment. He barks/growls in such a weird way. It is the funniest thing I have ever heard. My parents also got a new bed and it is taller than the other one. He ran full speed straight into the side of the bed. He wasn't hurt, but it was funny. | | Sleeping quarters: | Next to me in bed, | | Bio: | I am a mix between a long-haired chihuahua and some kind of terrier. I am turning 2 years old on August 2nd! I need to be the center of attention at all times. I am extremely spoiled and get everything I want. My partner-in-crime is Rusty who is a beagle. He didn't like me at first when I came home as a puppy but now we can't be away from each other. I sound like a lawnmower. Everybody laughs when I bark or growl. I don't see what's so funny though! | | Tricks: | Fetch,Sit,shake |

I (his mom) wanted a puppy for so long! I knew a boy who's mom lived in Chino Valley and was selling puppies. Well I took him up to Chino Valley so I could see the puppies and pick one out. She gave him to me for free. I picked out the quietest and the smallest one because my other dog, Rusty gets along better with smaller dogs. I took him home and my mom said I had to take him back. I took him to petsmart to ask the vet about him because he was supposably ready to leave his mom but he wasn't. He was only about 4 weeks old the vet said. I dropped him off so I could go and get a bottle and formula. I come home and my parents are on the couch holding him. I knew I could keep him! | | Nick Names: | Handsome, Chewbaca, Rico Badico, Rico Suave |

Tummy Troubles

Rico has been sick for a couple months now. We had to take him to emergency care because of constipation but we found out the next day at the vet that his colon was filled with blood and mucous. He's been on antibiotics, steroids, a bland diet, and TLC but it doesn't seem to work. Next week he is going to have an Ultrasound to maybe better diagnose what he has. The vet tends to think it's Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Okay his history is: I got him when he was about 4 weeks old. I was told he was 8 weeks but we had to feed him with a bottle because he couldn't even lap up water. Anyway...later on I found out his mom and all his brothers and sisters died of the Parvo virus. When I had got him, he was having diarrhea, I don't know if it was because of that. I got him vaccinated right at 6 weeks. Well pretty much he vomited yellow bile a lot and he's been on a sensitive stomach diet and Pepcid which has contorlled it now for about a year. Now he is having lower inestinal problems. I just don't know how to help him. Hopefully we can get something done. No amount of money is too much to help him. He is my life and it makes me so sad and upset that he's not even 2 and he's having these problems. If anybody has any advice or knows of anything like this, let me know! Thanks, Rico appreciates it!

So we finally got rid of his infection and all his bowel problems. Come to find out, his anal sacs are filling up within 3-4 weeks. So that was the problem is that the filled up, got infected, caused the constipation, which lead to the backup and infection. Sorry if that's too much info but I just want to let everybody know that if you see your dog rubbing his bottom on the ground a few times, I would have it checked. You don't want what happened to Rico to happen to your pooch!
