Pet Name: Salamingo
Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Breed: Mixed Breed
Weight: 70-80 lb
Funny Story: I am so good about showing my Master what it is that I want, can come and get him out of a chair, take him to where my treats are, nudge the door knobs, point with my feet, run to the fence, and you name it. When I hear a certain set of keys, I know we're letting the Pool guy in through the gate.
Sleeping quarters: Next to me in bed, but he gets to sleep on his own dog bed on the floor.
Bio: When I was a new born puppy, somebody did not want me and so that brought me and my siblings to an animal shelter, where my Master saw me soon after. I knew he was the one and jumped up on the chain link fence and howled ever so boldly to get his attention. Second in command, his son then 3 years old, named me. Where he came up with that, we'll never know!
Likes: being a best friend. Scratch my TUMMY !
Dislikes: When my Master leaves for work.
Toys: Stuffed duck.

Patches & Salamingo
 6/2/2008 5:18:19 PM
Patches came to stay with my son and me on February 14, 2008, a Brittany. He was the last of a litter and because he does not have the symetrical facial design (missing on one side) he probably would not be a "show dog" and that is the very reason we picked him. Our Valentine, Patches is growing quickly! You also see Salamingo who came to us in February 2001, and he is the main-stay in our home located in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. Since these photos (both taken on February 14th), the boys have managed to become very close companions. I hope you enjoy the photographs (a long-time hobby) and there will be more to come. Thanks for stopping by!

Patch and Salsa - Feeding time!
 7/20/2008 3:47:48 PM
Hey there. Well, it's another dog day at the home on a nice warm sunny Arizona afternoon. Salamingo's nickname is "Salsa" because we like things hot and spicy around here. He'll answer to either name. Mine is "Patch." I'm growing bigger every day, and I'm really enjoying Beneful for Puppies and Salsa has the Original for dogs older than one year. Our Master (we refer to him as "Daddy") also mixes a few bits from Pedigree chunky canned dog food. Our favorite is Country Stew, mmmm, mmmm. We also like the Lamb and Vegetables. Beef and Barley, Beef and Liver, and Chicken and Rice are also good to sort of break things up and give us a daily variety. Master goes away some days, and then shows up when the shadows from the sun are just right into the kitchen. It sort of "lights up" in the late afternoon and tells me to get ready because he's expected through the garage door any moment, and the outside, water, and food are on their way. Sometimes he is here all day long, and if he leaves it's only for a short time. Yesterday he left and came back with a bunch of sacks with cans of dog food! I think he waits until they are on sale at our corner grocery store and then buys in bulk. But in any case, that makes me very happy! Also, I can't believe just how good of a cook he is, and so I try to jump up and help chop his food, too, and that way I can see what he's cooking. He keeps telling me to get down, but man, I'm a springboard when it comes to the subject of what might go into my tummy! Like Remy from Ratatouille, my second favorite move next to Snow Buddies, I can smell all the wonderful flavors of cooking while they ae stirring in my mind! Man oh man, my first summer is interesting because I never knew it could get so hot. Even though I'm a house dog, Master keeps plenty of water outside for us at all times. I'm glad because I'm often right at the end of the dish with my tongue lapping away. I miss walks in the middle of the day, but my paws cannot take the hot sidewalks either. So, the grass in our big back yard is a refreshing retreat at around sunset and then it's playtime! Patch - July 20, 2008.

Time Flys!
 12/1/2008 10:03:34 PM
Patches turned 1 year old the day after Thanksgiving 2008. He's hanging in there and keeps our back yard in check for birds. Salamingo is enjoying the companionship as I had hoped he would. Brittany pups are very assertive and they do operate on instinct! One night, heading for bed, I came into the bedroom to find half of Patches' face stuffed into one of the goose down feather pillows, feathers flying everywhere like a teen-age pillow fight, and a smiling dog who looked at me astonished... that is while he tried to tongue feathers out of his mouth.
