Hi! I'm Duncan! I had a close call at the Lake County, CA Animal Shelter when I was placed on death row because my time ran out. But, then this nice lady recognized my innocence and bailed me out! Whew! I'm still a pup and love to play! This nice lady has trained me to be a good housedog so I don't do my business in the house. She also has taught me to Sit, Lay Down and Stay. I'm pretty smart! I've learned these tricks in just a few tries! I just love kids! In fact, I wish I belonged to a nice boy or girl who would treat me nice and in turn I can sleep at the end of their beds and keep away the closet or under the bed monsters! Oh, I was neutered and given all my shots for the year. Ouch! But, it's a minimal sacrifice if it gets me a family to love me and be loved by me all my days. I wouldn't want any puppies of mine to end up in a shelter like I did, anyway, so it's for the best. The owner of the local Pet Store says I'm a Kelpie. This lady had two other dogs already and boy, are they old grumps! She has to keep me locked up in the laundry room while she's at work so they don't hurt me. Can you give me the family home I'm dreaming of? Please email this lady at: rainay@mchsi.com. Her name is Renee. I'll be waiting for you. Love, Duncan Update: Duncan has found a new home with a middle aged lady in Ukiah. She is home much of the time being on medical disability but the disability doesn't get in the way of her walking him and taking him for jaunts to the river. She keeps him inside with her and he sleeps next to her on her bed being as she lives alone. She said that he has been a dream dog to her, a great companion with great manners. I cried for two days when I had to give Duncan up. I just felt that I was betraying him somehow, especially when he looked up at me with that sad puppy dog face as I put him in her car. But my husband was pressuring me to find him a new home before I went back to work full time which will be July 16th. It wasn't fair to keep him locked up in the laundry room which is attached to our garage and not air conditioned. He got a home just in time being as we are now in triple digits! I hope he and his new owner are staying cool. She has promised me that if her disability ever gets to the point where she can't care for him as he needs, she will call me to take him back. She said that there has been no change or deterioration in eleven years though and the doctors have marveled at her maintenance level. I'm still sad when I think of Duncan. I do already have two older dogs, though and Bob couldn't bond with Duncan for some reason. Probably because it was too soon after his dog died in May that he had for close to 13 years. Maybe I will have to put Vixen's and Rocky's blog up here now.
